The Watlow MI Strip is a thin, responsive heater that sets unmatched standards for performance and durability. It makes use of the most advanced heater construction techniques, including embedding the nickel chromium element wire in Watlow’s exclusive mineral insulation. Since the insulation layer is only 0.042 inches thick, the element wire is much closer to the heater sheath. Heat then flows easily from the element wire to the sheath, resulting in faster responsiveness, cooler wire temperatures, more consistent part temperatures, and lower energy costs. The MI features higher watt densities than other strip heaters, up to 100W/in2. It is capable of operating at sheath temperatures to 1400°F.

Aptly named for its 0.375 inch thickness, the Watlow 375 Strip is a rugged heater capable of both high temperatures (sheath temperature to 1100°F) and high watt densities (to 130 W/in2).

Its ruggedness comes from the design and use of choice materials. Watlow begins construction by accurately placing a coiled, nickel-chrome element wire in the center of the heater. The element wire is then embedded in MgO-based insulation. Then it is compacted into a solid mass that results in excellent heat conductivity and high dielectric strength. Finally, the heater is enclosed in aluminized steel sheathing.

Widely popular in air heating applications, Watlow’s 375 Finned Strip Heater uses two inch wide aluminized steel fins. The fins are attached in a way that maximizes surface contact so that heat is displaced and transferred into the air faster.

Like its 375 strip counterpart, the 375 finned strip heater is constructed of highly-compacted MgO-based insulation, which conducts heat efficiently from the nickel-chromium element wire to the sheath.

Many sizes available from stock, in lengths of 5-1/2 inches to 21 inches. Made-to-order units available to 48 inches in length.
