Watlow Series 988 Control Watlow's Series 988/989 Control was truly an innovation in the control field. The Series 988/989 was the first to combine so many key features into a single, 1/8 DIN size package. No other control offered the flexibility, compact size and durability of the Series 988/989.

This control met a wide variety of needs in the process industries. Its broad range of I/0 options allowed control of virtually any process variable.

From the long list of product features, the Series 988/989's ability to provide single unit cascade control of a process was perhaps the most unique. The Series 988/989 was the only 1/8 DIN control with this feature. Other features included heater current monitoring, remote set point input, differential or ratio control. Valve control via slidewire feedback was another popular feature.

The Series 988/989 had all the standard characteristics you expect from a Watlow control and more. Watlow expanded the auto-tuning capabilities and increased the alarm functionality. The Series 988/989 offered several unique control algorithms.

**Some models have non-standard overlays or preset parameters designated by the 11th and 12th digits. If the last two digits are AA, AB, AC, AD, AE, AF, AG, AH, BA, BC, BF, BH, BJ, BK, BL, BM, BP, BR, BV, BW, CJ, CM, CN, CP, CR, CS, CU, CY, DB, DH, DT, DU, EA, EB, EC, ED, EE, EH, FA, FB, FE, FF, FJ, FK, FP, FR, FS, FW, or GC use the RR default to find the retrofit controller. The retrofit controller may work in these applications if a standard controller with a Watlow logo and Red/Green displays are acceptable.
